A weekend ago, I had a chance to meet up a coworker and dine at BURGR owned by a famous celebrity chef from Food Network, Gordon Ramsay, hence the spelling of his new restaurant's name. Unfortunately, I was a little late in going there and we had to catch up a show later. I wasn't able to enjoy much of the food because we were in such a hurry. They say its one of the best gourmet burger in town but it was unfortunate that I wasn't able to enjoy my burger sandwich. My burger had a fried egg in it and I even forgot its name. Anyway I decided that I need to go back to BURGR and try to enjoy my time in there. Maybe I could get a better review of it next time around. I think they deserve a second visit or two.

Spanish Flair
Project365 Frame113
A girl friend from New York City came to Las Vegas to visit her friends. She used to live here before embarking on an adventurous job as a Traveling Nurse. She came in last week but because of my work schedules I haven't got the time to bond with her together with our other friends. I invited her for a dinner the other day but she had a conflicting appointment so we rescheduled it last night. We went to Firefly Tapas Kitchen but not the location that we used to go. This time its on the west side of town. This location was bigger but they have the same menu set as the other location.
According to Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia, Tapas (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈtapas]) are a wide variety of appetizers, or snacks, in Spanish cuisine. They may be cold (such as mixed olives and cheese) or warm (such as chopitos, which are battered, fried baby squid). In select bars in Spain, tapas have evolved into an entire, and sometimes sophisticated, cuisine. In Spain, patrons of tapas can order many different tapas and combine them to make a full meal. In some Central American countries, such snacks are known as bocas. Whats good about tapas restaurants, they offer good sangria either making use of the red wine or white wine as the base drink. Sangria by the way is a wine punch typical of Spain, Portugal and Argentina. It normally consists of wine, chopped fruit, a sweetener, and a small amount of added brandy.
Firefly chain of restaurants are some of the favored tapas restaurants in Las Vegas. Some other similar restaurants offer Flamenco Dancers for entertainment and sometimes they offer a night of Latin dancing. In the location that we went, they had Latin dancing every Tuesday night that start at 11pm until the wee hours of the morning. Either these establishments offer staged entertainment or just immerse their patrons with the unique flavor of their food and drinks, people would go to these places for their authentic Spanish ambiance.

KFC
Project365 Frame 082
When me & a friend decided to have lunch yesterday, we thought of going to Kentucky Fried Chicken. It has been a long time since I ate at KFC and it has always been my favorite fried chicken when I was still in the Philippines. We went to the restaurant and in no time I was already munching on their crispy variety while my friend stuck on the original.
While inside I noticed a big mural on the wall so I snapped a picture of it. I darkened the image a little bit with an app to give it a nostalgic feel.

Bonding with my Dad

Last week, I've been looking for a place to dine with my parents for the coming Father's Day. Since I already brought them to some nice buffet restaurants before, I was juggling the idea of bringing them to a seafood restaurant. In Las Vegas, there are a lot of these restaurants to choose from but I don't want to bring them to a high-end formal dining places where you are just forced to be satisfied just because the place is quite expensive. After some research and soliciting opinions from my co-workers, I decided to end-up in a seafood buffet restaurant. I don't want to bring them again to my own favorite Japanese/seafood buffet because we've been there numerous times. I chose the newly renovated and re-opened Village Seafood Buffet at the Rio Hotel & Casino. I've been in this place years back and since the price range is on the upper end, which is understandable because seafood is quite expensive in this city, I did not make myself a regular customer. I thought it was the right time to visit this place again with my parents. On Father's Day itself, I checked online to see what time the restaurant opens. They are not serving breakfast or brunch, of course who would eat crab legs for breakfast? Since they are offering only dinner, we went there around 4pm. Yes, dinner at buffet restaurants actually starts at 3pm. Indeed I was not disappointed. The place had improved in terms of its ambiance. My folks were fascinated by the variety of seafood both raw and cooked on the buffet table. I'm glad that my parents enjoyed their time in this restaurant.
